Age [Appearance]: Very early 20's, looks about 24 to be exact.
Ethnic Age: Over 3,000 years [Ethnic meaning the age of the ethnic Khmer, not modernized country age.]
Height: 5'7
Weight: 90 lbs [underweight]
Curl Representation/purpose: The long downward curl represents the Mekong River and the hook at the end of the curl represents the Tonle Sap lake. Neither the curl or hook are ero zones.
Skin tone: The light tan of his skin actually represents the middle class skin tone. In Cambodia, the darker your skin is the more impoverished you are [hypothetically speaking]. Pale skin represents wealth.
Personality: He is very worrisome and paranoid in nature. His odd worries cause him to over complicate things [i.e. Putting casinos on his borders to prevent invasion]. He also tends to smile most when he is extremely nervous. However, he is a very casual drinker and calms down easily when there are beverages to be had. His main fault happens to be the fact that he silently tends to carry grudges and leave small, almost sarcastic hints of bitterness. Though he seem's quite laid back [aside from skittishness], its most likely a ploy. At current, his country suffer's from human trafficking, illegal drug trade, and black market trade of artifacts.
As a person, he may suffer small lapses of drug addiction and periodic drinking. He is occasionally seen smoking.

Pre-History:
His ethnicity is believed to be one of the oldest in the world, for signs of early human life have been found near
the Mekong River,Stung Treng, Kratié , and in Kampot Provinces. Most of the earliest findings of his pre-nation life leads many to believe that he used to be of the hunter gatherer sort, and fairly old, perhaps even stating that he was milling around in 6000 BC. More of his 'Prehistoric artifacts' [read: child playthings] are often found buried in Ratanakiri.

Angkor Era:
During this time, he was heavily influenced by India, and in the 13th century, Sri Lanka introduced Theravada Buddhism to him. Theravada Buddhism is still his current religion. Though he was still young at this time, he ruled along-side his elder brother, the Khmer Empire. At this time, his brother was Southeast Asia's largest empire, and young Cambodia experienced a period of extreme cultural growth. His brother's largest city, Angkor, grew fairly wealthy. Actually, it is believed Angkor was the largest pre-industrial city in the world. However, his protection and his brother's power started to decline around the 15th century.

Darker times [dark ages]:
During this time, Cambodia was subjected to being supressed by both Vietnam and Thailand.

Being Colonized by France:
In 1863 Cambodia approached France for protection from Thailand. However, during the 1940's Cambodia was also occupied by the Japanese Empire.

Vietnam War and Pol Pot's Goverment:
As the affects of the Vietnam War seeped into Cambodia, he was plunged into a state of madness. Civil bombings by the Khmer Rouge and mass Genocide [about 1.8 million killed] threw Cambodia into his current state of poverty. During the horror's of the Republic of Cambodia [Pol Pot's, the leader of the Khmer Rouge, goverment] both men and women were killed, corpses were thrown into mass graves and some corpses were hung from buildings as a sign of mockery. Rumors of cannibalism are also mentioned.

Important Relations:
India: Large Religious, Language, and Ethnic influence
China: Early and current day trade partner
Vietnam: Fierce rival and neighbor, both are still slightly bitter to one another
Thailand: Rival, both Thailand and Cambodia have mixed feelings about eachother
Sri Lanka: Main Religious influence and trade partner in the 13th and 14th centuries.
Laos: Tender relations and trade partner. Cambodia and Laos are very close.

I think this is one of the most unique designs for a Cambodia OC I’ve seen.

He’s very cute, and I love that one longer curl on the side of his head, though I thought he was a girl at first because of it.

There’s a lot of good info in his bio, too.
